InterlockingCogs

Each cog is cut to the same tooth pitch as the one it hangs off, half a tooth out of phase so the teeth drop into the gaps. Every plate is symmetric about its own teeth, which is what lets the whole train return to an identical frame — and export as a loop with no seam.

Loop export

The export winds the train forward by a whole number of tooth pitches, so the last frame lands exactly where the first one started. Recording starts from whatever is on screen now.

Display lock

Saves everything on screen right now as lock.json beside the page. While that file is there, the page loads straight into the artwork with every control hidden — for kiosks, embeds and wall screens. Seed source is saved too, so a locked screen can recut itself on the hour. Add ?edit to the URL to get back in.

Checking…

Drag anywhere to wind the train by hand — let go and it picks up where the drive left off. Tap for a new one. Keys: N new train, space pause, S save, C controls. Chrome fades when you stop touching it.
